I am curious as to how much of a difference in Braking distance and feel the Applied Rotor Technology Rotors for the 3rd Gen Dodge 2500 trucks make? Also, is there a recommended brake pad or pads?

Applied Rotor Technology claims that your overall stopping distances can be decreased by as much as 20%. This is a huge reduction in distance considering that its the last few feet that really make a difference. While the 3rd Gen trucks brake system is far superior to the 2nd Gen Dodge Trucks making it even better is not that difficult.
As far as the braking feel you will notice that the braking is far more aggressive compared to the OEM PAD/ROTOR combination. By more aggressive I mean you will feel the weight transfer to the front end faster and the trucks speed will decrease by a faster rate then the OEM brake system. Being able to slow or stop when needed is well worth the cost of this upgrade.
The brake pad I like the best is the Porterfield R4-S. This was a compound originally designed for the race track but has been modified to meet the demands of street use. The Porterfield R4-S pad is sold in combination with the ART rotors.
When installing new pads and rotors it is recommend that you do a complete flush of the brake fluid. Replacing brake fluid is something that is all to often over looked during routine maintenance. This is also a good time to look at replacing your OEM brake lines with a set of Crown Performance Brake Lines. The Crown Performance Brake lines will give you a firmer pedal and allow for the fastest braking action possible.

Thanks! Sounds like a worthwhile upgrade! Does ART publish an expected pad and/or rotor life or does anyone have experience with how long these components last?
