Ford has updated the standpipe tubes and the Dummy plugs for the late 2004 to 2007 Ford 6.0 engines. The old style rail plugs were prone to o-ring failure. The original design of the Ford 6.0 Powerstroke Injector Rail Plug had a single O-ring that was prone to failure. Symptoms are the loss of ICP pressures which can cause no start or stalling. It's also sometimes misdiagnosed as a bad IPR valve or HPOP. These Ford 6.0L Powerstroke Updated Standpipe Tube and Dummy Plug Kit have been updated with a backup PTFE washer. The Ford 6.0L Powerstroke Updated Standpipe Tube and Dummy Plug Kits single most typical symptom of failed standpipe and rail plug o-ring failure, is a hard re-start when the engine is hot. Even when the 6.0L engine starts after a cold-soak, it may be very hard to re-start after it has reached operating temperature, has been shut off, and an attempted restart. To check if this updated part is installed remove the valve covers.
The early version Standpipes require a 10mm Allen wrench and the old dummy plugs require a 1/2" square drive.
The updated version Standpipes and Dummy plugs use a 12mm Allen wrench.
